Owning a horse sanctuary is a big ambition of mine, but I am willing to put in the time, money, and effort into chasing this dream. I am not going to forget this goal or let it go easily, and I am never going to stop loving horses. They are such beautiful creatures who should not be treated this way. Horse abuse is cruel and unjust, and many average people huddle around their TVs to watch races, oblivious to the abuse right in front of them. Horses are given shots to hide their pain and fear, shots that make them burst forward like a dog gone rabid. I hope that one day I can make speeches like this to make horse abuse more known. I want to inspire people to donate to individuals who help deal with the aftermath of these situations or donate to people who are trying to place laws to stop this madness. A lot of people don’t have the resources to make action directly, so donating and spreading the word are great alternatives. I want to inspire the public to stop supporting harsh industries like racing, dressage, reining, carriage riding, circus riding, and other disciplines. When they are done without abuse, they are ok to support, but almost never are they abuse-free. A big part of the problem is that the public ignores or does not see these issues. People who do see it assume that since horses are big, they can handle it, but that is not the case. Think about how a horse can feel a tiny, seemingly weightless fly and rid it with the twitch of a muscle. What do you think helps them do that? Their sensitive skin. The skin that is smacked with crops and whips, leaving open wounds and later scars, their past unmistakable. Dumped at an auction after people have broken them, they are then killed for their meat to be consumed by the very kind who caused their misery, their pain, their suffering. Along with helping horses who suffer from these situations, I also want to help stop the situations in the first place. The kind can not keep dealing with the consequences of the unkind. There is only so much one person can do, but as a community, we can thrive. Working together is in our nature. All we can do is get the unbanned banned and the legal illegal, though unfortunately, that does not always stop people. The law is not a threat to people who have found ways to hide. There are simply too many people for authorities to watch over, too many people who are too smart for their own good. The best thing to do? Push this topic. Get it further known. Inspire people to take action. Boost awareness posts on social media. Ban abuse posts. And finally, if you see something, say something. Help us ban horse abuse, and stop watching races in excitement. Thank you for listening.
